Our Programmes 

TEACHING, TRAINING,
APPRENTICESHIP & SUPPORT

By these methods, we cultivate learning experiences that impart skills, and transform mindsets, attitudes, and behaviour. Enabling therefore young people to explore different ways they can make changes that benefit themselves and their communities.

We support young people throughout our Programmes; from the application stage up to graduation from YES DOT. We will continue to support them for a minimum of 6 months, up to a maximum of 1 year.

the young person, their families, communities, and society at large.

1. MENTORSHIP PROJECT

A Dynamic Optimistic Transforming plan of action for Black Youths, that builds and designs bright new Futures Through Mentorship. YES DOT will pair young people with the most suitable Mentors so that they can develop skills, grow their confidence, and build bright futures for themselves.

2. FAMILY SUPPORT PROJECT

A Dynamic Optimistic Transforming plan of action for Black Youths that are in families who are in need of support, and are vulnerable. YES DOT will assess their needs and offer assistance. For example, in Jamaica some children and young people’s school attendance is poor, due to a lack of finance for their travel. They are in need of money for bus fares. Others are in need of money for lunch. Parents who are in need of parental guidance and support, will be able to access organised parenting classes or individual counselling.

BETTA ASK PROGRAMMES

BETTA - BE EMPOWERED TEACHING TRAINING APPRENTICESHIP

ASK - ACHIEVEMENT SUPPORT KNOWLEDGE

Duration 12 weeks (3 days per week) with paid apprenticeship opportunities for 4 weeks. 

Candidates are referred to us, or they apply directly by telephone and online.

They are selected based on the result of their interview.

 

Part 1

BEINGS ARE CREATED TO DO GREAT THINGS AND TO FULFIL THEIR ASPIRATIONS

Young people will be shown the importance of having and creating a Personal Development Plan (PDP) that is rooted in Emotional Intelligence and Self Knowledge. These skills are essential foundational ingredients to achieving success and fulfilling aspirations and potential.

With their PDP they will be linked into the mentorship programme, which is an additional empowering strategy.

Part 1.5

EMPOWERED MINDSET TRAINING

  • Understanding the fundamentals of neuroplasticity.  It shows how "the brain's ability to change, reorganise and adapt due to new experience" can change mindsets.  Demonstrating the malleability of the brain, "changing daily, moment by moment, enabling people to change their brains with their minds"

  • Building a growth mindset

  • Eliminating negative or self-limiting beliefs 

  • Combining culture and history 

  • Building the ultimate empowerment belief system

Part 2

TEACHING

Youths are taught how to learn through empowering experiences, and gaining knowledge through:

  • Critical thinking

  • Negotiation

  • Mediation and Conflict Resolution

  • Identity and self-knowledge

Part 3

T-

TRAINING

Equips young people with the right tools, habits, and strategies, so that they can make valuable contributions to the society in which they live.  Their training will include;

  • Skills training e.g., Garment construction, Food preparation, Diet and Nutrition, and Bioenergetics.​

  • Life skills e.g., Effective Communication, Problem Solving, and Interpersonal Relationships.

Part 4

APPRENTICESHIP

A-

Solar Panels Technicians

 

This Programme includes 4 weeks of apprenticeship.

Apprentices will be given the opportunity to put the skills that they learnt into practice.

Each young person will get on-the-job supervised paid training.

After their apprenticeship is completed, they will be given the opportunity to become an employee in one of YES DOT’s businesses if there are any vacancies.

YES DOT will also seek employment in other companies for graduate apprentices.

These experiences enable you to build the Ultimate Empowerment Belief System, and cause you to;

  • Thrive and build your own businesses.

  • Sing your own songs.
